Slightly warmer, still cool

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A couple of degrees warmer today but mid-60s are still below average for this time of year and more normal for mid-November. It's not as cold tonight. The Pee Dee will stay around 40 degrees and 44 at the beach.

Tonight's full moon is a supermoon and is known as the Hunter's Moon. This is the 3rd supermoon of the year. The next will be on November 15. A supermoon is not an official term but is used when the full moon coincides with the moon's closest point to Earth. This is known as perigee.

When a full moon is in perigee it appears 14% bigger and 30% brighter. This occurs because the moon's orbit is not circular but is elliptical. Its furthest point is known as the apogee. The difference between these points is approximately 25,000 miles.

High pressure will build in today with plenty of sunshine, keeping our weather clear through the weekend. Sunshine will warm us up with temperatures back in the 70s for the weekend.

The sunny, dry weather will continue into next week. Mid and upper-70s by Monday.
