COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Tuesday morning! Tracking an approaching cold front that will increase showers throughout the morning and becoming heavy at times later today. Temperatures are starting off mild with readings in the 60s and temperatures will not move a lot throughout the day with highs only expected to reach the upper 60s later this afternoon. Rainfall totals with this approaching system will likely bring around 1-2" with some localized higher amounts; however, this is the best chance of rain since Helene back in September. Wednesday starts off with morning clouds then becoming mostly sunny with highs in the mid 70s as we await another reinforcing cold front that moves through the region late Wednesday and into Thursday. Temperatures drop into the 40s by Thursday morning with highs struggling to reach 60s by the afternoon with Friday likely one of the coldest days of the forecast with temperatures dipping into the 30s and highs staying in the mid to upper 50s. Slight warm up in the extended forecast before another cold front arrives next week. For the latest news, weather, sports, and streaming video, head to WRBL. The showers from Sunday decrease into the overnight hours but more rain is expected Monday as a cold front moves into Houston during the afternoon. This front could have some gusty winds with a 1/5 risk for severe weather. Tuesday will be drier with mild temperatures. A shot of much cooler air pushes into the region Tuesday night setting up afternoon highs only in the 60s on Wednesday and Thursday. This should be the coldest air we've seen this season with several mornings in the lower 40s and some folks in the upper 30s. Find those jackets!
