Solanco school board OKs engineering and construction management services for new building
When: Solanco school board meeting, Oct. 7.
What happened: The board approved engineering and construction management services for construction of a new administrative building.
Background: The new administration building is part of a facilities improvement plan approved in 2023 that also includes new secured entrances at school buildings, HVAC improvements and athletic fields.
The cost: The contract with Moore Engineering Company is $115,000, which represents 1.5% of the estimated $7.5 million cost of the building. The agreement with Steve Risk for construction management is for $100 per hour.
Board comments: President Craig Chubb said that in the past, the use of a construction manager results in an overall cost savings.
