Great start

Good for Ocean Springs and its efforts to increase the number of trees in its beautiful city. One slam-dunk, no-cost method would be for the city and county to stop approving building permits and subdivisions that begin with clearcutting. Leave those heritage trees.

Port strike

I'm torn about the dock worker strike. On one hand I sympathize with people who are struggling in the Bidenomics economy because many of those port cities almost require you to earn $150,000 a year to touch the American dream. These guys work hard with crazy hours and in a tough environment. On the other hand they have a literal choke hold on the country's economy. All the rest of us are struggling under the same Bidenomics pressures and this strike will not help one person outside of their union. The demand for a 77% increase does seem more than a tad unreasonable, so why not take the 50% offer?

One tenth of one percent illegal voting is one tenth of one percent too much. As the left's favorite saying is, 'we either have a democracy or we don't'.

Voter fraud

You only read part of the story about the DOJ suing Alabama to stop large scale purging non-citizens from its voter rolls. Alabama was violating the National Voter Registration Act. That's been law since 1993 and prohibits such actions within 90 days of an election. Ninety days would be early August. Alabama didn't start this action until during that month. If they wanted to pursue such action, they simply needed to start earlier.

Off the road

You didn't say where on Pass Road the kids on the golf cart cut you off. Don't know about Gulfport, but Biloxi prohibits golf carts on roads zoned over 25 mph. There are also abundant requirements for both the vehicles and drivers. If they were in Biloxi, they were already breaking the law since Pass Road is zoned 35 mph. I wouldn't argue that we need more police presence to catch such violators.

Helene recovery

North Carolina needs help, and there are several military bases, including a combat engineering group, that would willing to help. Somebody should tell President Biden and Vice President Harris.

Family affair

Every day, it seems another once-Republican family member comes out against Donald Trump. First it was Liz Cheney, daughter of ex-vice president Dick Cheney. Then it was Trump's sister, now its Rudy Giuliani's daughter who is warning that Trump will destroy democracy. Even his wife is against his stealing of women's rights. Republicans are waking up to their nightmare candidate, who is only in it so he can pardon himself.

Someone had the nerve to write in about the U.S. giving money to "corrupt" Ukraine. Just because Donald Trump likes Vladimir Putin, doesn't mean he is a good guy. Putin is a ruthless dictator who likes to poison his own people when they criticize him.

Need a family

The Republican Party has no limits on declining character and integrity. A candidate for Congress in Virginia is now using his friend's family in photos, portraying himself as the father to sell himself as a regular family man.

Counting pennies

Vice President Harris and Gov. Walz are calling for higher taxes on both citizens and businesses. They proposed a ban on "price gouging" at grocery stores. Name where that is happening, please. Grocery stores are already struggling to remain profitable with margins down to just 1.6%. And they've promised first-time home buyers a $25,000 credit. According to Moody's, that would quickly translate into higher home prices.

Leaving early

Looks like the circus is getting old and boring for Donald Trump's audience.

So civil

We've had one upheaval in this race already, so how about another? Let's let Gov. Walz and Sen. Vance be co-presidents.
