South Fork community rallies at fundraiser to support local mother's recovery
Community members supported a South Fork woman who is recovering from a ruptured brain aneurysm.
Kayla Tolar, who is a mother and wife, was flown to a Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh in August.
Friends, family and local residents attended a "Basket Party" to raise money and help the Tolar family with medical and travel expenses. The event was held at the South Fork Volunteer Fire Department on Sunday.
Richard Potter, who organized the Basket Party event, explained that the community said they want to support Kayla and her family while she recovers.
"She's been life-lighted to Pittsburgh twice," Potter said. "She just keeps going back hopefully we can get her straightened out. The doctors are taking really good care (of her). Hopefully she'll keep on coming home."
Family members said she was in the ICU for an extended period of time to undergo treatment.
