South Kerry Final: Dromid boss says it would be ‘ridiculous’ to be without inter-county players

O'Sullivan, who was speaking after Dromid's substantial enough defeat at the hands of St Marys in the South Kerry Final in Reenard on Saturday afternoon, made plain his views on the issue. "I think something like that coming in is ridiculous," he stated. "For a small club like us to have a player like Graham O'Sullivan and then for him to not be able to play in your best championship that's happening, I think it would be ridiculous." Kerry star Graham O'Sullivan's availability, alas, wasn't enough to save the club from a double-digit defeat at the hands of district bigwigs, St Marys. "Marys got off to a great start and that goal, we were kind of asleep to the danger," the Dromid boss reflected. "I thought in the last ten minutes of the first half we came into it. We needed to come out at the start of the second half and take a few scores but it was the other way around, St. Marys took over, and that's how it goes. "We were hoping that we would win that throw-in and get that first ball and get a score, but like I said, it was the other way around and the scores went over for them. Definitely it just wasn't our day. "A couple of high balls in and they got the goals and I suppose really Dromid should be clearing those balls and we didn't. Look, we are a small team with a small pick, a lot of players gone away from us, and we struggled all year in the County League as well. "I'd be hoping that most of these lads can stick together and keep going. We've said every year that we would look to next year, but we always seem to come up trumps, lads make it back home for us, and only for them we wouldn't keep going so hopefully they will continue to do that."
