Kennedy’s Oct. 28, 1960, speech in Pottsville’s Garfield Square was discussed at the meeting of the Schuylkill County Historical Society and radio station T-102’s Local Reads Book Club on Nov. 14. Civil War Veterans Honored: noon, Friday, Dec. 8, Union Cemetery, North Garfield Avenue, just off Route 61 (by Skook Auto). The National Patriotic Order Sons of America will present a program honoring two Congressional Medal of Honor recipients and will place Christmas wreaths on the graves of those buried in the Helms GAR section to honor them.
