Guilford County Schools dismissed Southwest Elementary at 1 p.m. Monday due to elevated temperatures in the building, according to a news release from the district.

The school sent students home with electronic devices to prepare for the possibility that the school might have to hold a remote learning day on Tuesday.

According to district spokeswoman Gabrielle Brown, the air-conditioning was not functioning properly in more than half of the building. She said the district is working on getting it fixed and will send updates on the situation to parents.
