SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The 25th annual Boobapalooza event to raise awareness about breast cancer and funds for a local non-profit was held Friday morning.

The radiothon and breakfast is hosted by 98.7 The Dove at Coyote's Abode Cafe in Springfield. People attending could enjoy a $10 breakfast buffet and buy shirts on-site. All proceeds from the event go toward the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks (BCFO).

BCFO is a local non-profit providing financial help and hope to women and men diagnosed with breast cancer in the Ozarks. The foundation can help cover the costs of rent and food while patients are going through treatment.

"We provide the help, obviously with financial assistance, but also the hope," said Joe Dauesm, CEO of BCFO. "In that, when you're going through that or if you've gotten through that, we have focus groups and support groups that you can come join and talk it through and hear other people's experiences and understand that you're not alone."

BCFO says in addition to the monetary donations received from the fundraiser, it also helps remind people to get mammogram screenings. The foundation encourages anyone to go to a doctor if you suspect something is not right to catch any cancer symptoms early.
