Spartans score 16 goals in 2 games

FERNLEY — The Spring Creek boys soccer team's offense came to life on the road.

The Spartans racked up 16 goals in two games — scoring eight in each — in a pair of 8-0 victories.

Versus Dayton

On Friday, Spring Creek netted four balls in the first and second halves in an 8-0 blasting of the Dust Devils for a season sweep.

Junior Hunter Heieie tallied a hat trick and assisted a goal — scoring seven points — while senior Norman House posted two goals and a dime.

Senior Justin Miner and junior Tyler Hope each recorded two assists and a goal, and sophomore Cole Montgomery added one goal and an assist.

Of the Spartans' eight goals, all were assisted — the dimes rounded out with one by sophomore Kasyn Freyensee.

In the shutout win, senior goalie Brady Smith made seven saves.

Versus Fernley

Against the Vaqueros, Spring Creek had itself quite the Saturday — exploding to a 7-0 lead at the half and adding one goal after the break.

House hauled the Spartans with four goals, sophomore Isaac Ward followed with two goals and Miner and Heieie rounded out the offense with one goal apiece.

Miner assisted three scores, while Heieie dished one dime.

Each of the goals were assisted for the seconds straight day; Montgomery making two — freshman Cooper McGinnis and Hope each adding one.

In the shutout, Smith saved six shots.

The Spartans (17-4-2 overall, 10-3 in league) will host White Pine (3-10 in league) at 2 p.m. Friday, and West Wendover (10-3 in league) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, in Spring Creek.
