SPD searching for man who threatened Nichols Park birthday party with gun

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Springfield police are looking for a man who pulled out a gun during a kid's birthday party in Nichols Park.

According to Sgt. Harold Millirons, SPD officers got a call about an incident at Nichols Park around 4:20 p.m.

Millirons says a man in a blue Mazda Miata was doing donuts in the parking lot while a birthday party was going on. When one of the dads at the party confronted the driver and told him to leave, the driver took out a gun, pointed it at the dad and ran off.

No shots were fired during the incident. The suspect has not been located as of this writing but he is not considered dangerous to the community.

This is the second gun-related incident to occur at Nichols Park on Saturday. Overnight, there was a shooting at Nichols Park , where the victim later died in the hospital.
