Husky runner is Hill candidate



Bloomsburg University tailback Marques Glaze is one of 24 candidates for
the 2001 Harlon Hill Trophy. The award is given to the NCAA Division II
Football Player of the Year.

Entering Saturday’s game, Glaze had rushed 176 times for 1,157 yards and 11
touchdowns. He is averaging 6.6 yards per carry and 144.6 yards per game, the
eighth best in Division II. He also has two 200-yard rushing games this
season.

Bloomsburg’s Irv Sigler won the award in 1997.





Cougars among league leaders



Several College Misericordia athletes were among the final Pennsylvania
Athletic Conference fall sports statistical leaders.

Freshman Cole Vennie led the league in women’s soccer scoring with a school
single-season record 43 points (18 goals, seven assists) while teammate Erica
Noel finished first with a 0.77 goals-against average.

In volleyball, Ashley Dixon (Lackawanna Trail) led the league with 1.10
aces per game.

In field hockey, goalkeeper Liz Kovalchik was second with a 1.07
goals-against average. Becky Roman was tied for sixth in scoring with 28
points and Megan Lenig was tied for 10th with 23 points.

Men’s soccer goalkeeper Dave Kern was second with a 1.64 goals-against
average.





Local competed for Aggies



Angela Lacina, a Wyoming Area graduate, recently finished her sophomore
campaign on the Delaware Valley College women’s volleyball team.

She played in 78 games, recorded 24 kills, 103 digs and 11 blocks for the
Aggies, who finished with a 10-12 overall mark. They were 2-4 in the Middle
Atlantic Conference Freedom Conference.





Man gets fourth career ace



Ned Endler, of Wilkes-Barre, recorded his fourth career hole in one
Thursday while golfing at Wyoming Valley Country Club.

Endler aced the 165-yard No. 13 hole using a five iron. James C. Thomas,
Speedy Swiderski and Andy Yurkanin witnessed the shot.
