SPORTS: UNLV hits #23 in AP & Coaches Polls, VGK prep important 5-game road trip

UNLV football moved up seven spots and returned to the national rankings on Sunday after upping its record to 8-2 overall with a 41-20 home win over San Diego State.

The Rebels are now No. 23 in both polls, which reflects their highest ranking ever by the Associated Press and ties their highest in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll. UNLV made its first-ever appearance in the Coaches Poll on Sept. 15, reaching as high as No. 23 two weeks later. The Rebels received their first-ever ranking by the AP on Sept. 29, sitting at No. 25.

The Golden Knights are heading on the road for a 5-game road trip after losing their second straight game home-ice. The VGK start their road trip in Toronto on Wednesday.
