St. Paul traffic: West Seventh repairs could cause delays Tuesday morning
Drivers using West Seventh Street in the Highland Park area of St. Paul should expect traffic delays Tuesday morning.
A section of the roadway, also known as Minnesota 5, between Davern and Wheeler streets will be reduced to a single lane as workers make emergency repairs and resurface, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Flaggers will be on site to guide traffic between 5 and 10 a.m., with traffic lights in the area flashing red while workers do the repairs.
People planning on driving near the area are encouraged to take an alternative route to avoid delays and congestion. The segment, just southwest of the Sibley Plaza shopping center, is on a common route to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
The repairs come ahead of two planned city projects to improve the safety and mobility of West Seventh Street.
Phase 1, expected to begin in 2028, will cover West Seventh Street between Munster Avenue and St. Clair Avenue. Phase 2, in 2029, will address St. Clair Avenue to Olive Street.
