NORWALK, CT — "Stacked: Merging Layers," a new exhibition featuring work by Korry Fellow Lauren Clayton and local artists Holly Danger and Brian Kaspr, is now open at The Norwalk Art Space.
According to a news release provided by The Norwalk Art Space, the exhibition will run from Nov. 7, 2024 to Jan. 9, 2025. An opening reception will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will include soundscapes by DJ Dinero.
The show promises to be a kaleidoscope of colors and deeply meaningful messages woven together through drawings, paintings, and collages on canvas and in video. The three artists cross paths in their journey of creation, experimentation, stacks of sketchbooks, journals and ephemera works that transcend their given mediums, according to the art space.Clayton is an artist and graphic designer based in Stamford. She studied at the Cooper Union School of Art in New York City before launching her art and design business, Studio 162, in 2003.
In her intricate pencil drawings and collages, Lauren explores ideas of identity, connectivity, and our impact in our community and beyond, according to the art space.
She enjoys using monochromatic palettes juxtaposed by moments of bold colors. Words and symbolism are often woven into her work, inviting people to spend time getting closer and thinking curiously.
Kaspr is a Norwalk-based artist whose abstract paintings are based in lettering, communication, storytelling, language and advertising but, rather than convey a message or sell you something, the letterforms and imagery are utilized as a means of mark making.
The structure of letterforms and familiar imagery create a framework for abstraction, texture, and explorations in color. This subject matter provides a familiarity that ground his energetic and vibrant work, according to the art space.
Danger, an award-winning video artist based in Stamford, explores the interplay of traditional analog artistic techniques with new media technologies.
Danger's mission is to project light into the world by transforming ordinary spaces into moving experiences through immersive art installations and live performances, according to the art space.
The work explores how the synchronization of motion, light, and sound can be used to create uplifting spaces that influence how we feel, connect, and relate to our environment. Each work invites the viewers to take a respite from their day to day and step into an experience that brings you into the awareness of the present moment, according to the art space.
Located at 455 West Avenue, The Norwalk Art Space is free to all visitors. More information is available .
