Honesdale 22, Crestwood 19
HONESDALE – Steve Langendoerfer, Charlie Deighton and Andy Johannes
combined for 233 rushing yards and two touchdowns to help Honesdale close out
a disappointing season on a positive note.
Down 19-7 in the fourth quarter, Honesdale quarterback Ted Wallingford ran
in from 1 yard out, and following the conversion kick, the gap was closed to
run to give the Hornets (2-8) the lead, 20-19.
Wallingford completed a pass to Jeremy Ebert on the two-point conversion to
end the scoring.
Quarterback Chris Abraham accounted for all three Crestwood touchdowns,
running for two and tossing one. Abraham rushed for 118 yards on 16 carries,
and threw for another 40, as the Comets concluded their season with a 3-7
record.
Riverside 55, Susquehanna 22
TAYLOR – Ron Pavalonis caught seven passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns
to lead the Vikings in a rout against Susquehanna.
Riverside quarterback Matt Smith had a big night, completing 14 of his 21
passes for 243 yards and two scores, and teammate Brian Tugend added three
touchdowns and 77 yards on the ground.
Susquehanna kept it close early, down 20-14 after the first quarter, but
Riverside outscored the Sabres 35-8 the rest of the way.
Keith Lindquist ran for 83 yards for Susquehanna, and Nate Williams
returned a kick 85 yards for a touchdown and added a 64-yard touchdown run
from scrimmage.
West Scranton 42, Wallenpaupack 6
HAWLEY – The West Scranton Invaders kept their playoff hopes alive in a big
way as they easily defeated Wallenpaupack Friday night.
The Invaders bolted to a 29-0 first half lead, snapping a three-game losing
streak in very impressive fashion.
Almost all the damage was done on the ground for West Scranton as they
rolled up 335 rushing yards while limiting Wallenpaupack to 142 rushing yards.
The Invaders took the opening kickoff and marched 70 yards in 12 plays to
grab an early 7-0 lead. Marc DeAntona capped off the drive with a touchdown
plunge from one yard out with 7:02 left in the first quarter.
DeAntona scored his second touchdown of the night later in the first
quarter racing in from five yards out to make it 14-0.
Things continued to shine for West Scranton on the opening play of the
second quarter when Evan Prall intercepted a pass and returned it 84 yards for
another Invader score to up the margin to 22-0. Another long drive by the
Invaders helped increase their lead late in the half to 29-0. Mike Baresse
capped the drive with a five-yard run for the Invaders.
DeSarno and Bill Bennett added touchdowns for West Scranton in the second
half.
Wallenpaupack scored its lone touchdown on the first play of the fourth
quarter when Mark Pittenger rambled in from 28 yards out.
