5-Star Jared Curtis’ Georgia Decommitment Sees New Twist as Insider Breaks Big Recruitment Update

Looks like the 2 losses to 2 ranked teams would end up being the only L's Kirby Smart will take this season. See, the Dawgs ain't having a good time. While their season started great, the momentum slowly faded after Kalen DeBoer and Co. managed to overthrow the once-great defensive team of the nation with a 41-34 run. Kirby Smart went scoreless against Bama in the entire first quarter. Adding insult to injury was the game against Ole Miss. Boy, oh boy, it felt bad looking at the Dawgs struggle to get past 10 points against the Rebels. Smart's entire offense was all over the place and Carson Beck allowing that many turnovers and sacks also didn't help.

But, as we pointed out before, the sun is finally shining over the Dawgs. And this blessing comes in the form of a new recruitment twist. Back in October, No.1 QB and No.5 overall player Jared Curtis de-committed from the Dawgs. The reasoning behind it was simple; "would like to take some more time to explore all my options," Curtis had mentioned. However, today on November 13th, Josh Newberg breaks a big update ; "Yeah, Jared Curtis, the number one quarterback de-commits from Georgia. He's going to be on campus." Yes, Curtis is probably coming back to the Dawgs for the 2026 class. Insider Rusty Mansell mentioned, "This is a kid that George has been on the whole time. They had him committed, he backed off, he wanted to take visits, he went to Oregon, he's been to Auburn. He's going to go to Georgia this weekend, then I think he's going to Alabama."

Every Georgia fan and staff freaked out when Curtis backed off from the team. This guy is one of the best payers the Bulldogs can bring in for the 2026 class and losing him would put a dent in their recruitment strength. Not only that, you also gotta keep in mind that Smart had lost a couple of other guys in the past few weeks as well.

Christian Garrett was another kid who moved away from Smart and Co. This dude was marked as the highest-ranked DL for the Bulldogs 2025 roster. Then the Dawgs also lost another 3-star DL Stephon Shivers, who will be visiting Florida.

Now, losing Curtis is something Smart cannot afford. However, there is also another big risk. See, Curtis is planning on visiting Bama as well. He already had his Oregon visit and with Bama next on the list, the chances of Smart securing this kid are VERY low.

Can Bama or Ducks win over Jared Curtis? Let's focus on Dan Lanning and Co. first. The Ducks are sitting on top of every list out there. Take the AP polls or the CFP ranking list; Lanning is the new king. And why wouldn't he be? 10 games played, all won. The only showdown where Lanning even came close to losing was against the Buckeyes, but they managed to edge past with 32-31 on the board.

It's not hard to understand why Curtis could end up picking the Ducks. A stellar 2024 season record along with probably a national championship win as well (based on how they are playing). This is the perfect place to start his new journey.

Unless the guy wants to be petty. See, if Curtis picks Bama, then this would end up becoming the second L Kirby Smart would be taking from Kalen DeBoer. And well, Crimson Tide does have a shot at landing Curtis. Bama made a major comeback after the Mizzou and LSU game and they easily managed to climb past Georgia on the AP polls and the CFP ranking list. For now, Dawgs fans can only pray for the best.
