PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – Pittsburgh Steelers Vice President Art Rooney Jr. was among the 25 individuals announced as candidates in the Contributor category for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025 on Wednesday.

Rooney was the team's personnel director from 1965 to 1986, and is a member of the Steelers Ring of Honor.

He worked in a Steelers scouting department that drafted ten future Hall of Famers from 1969 to 1974. It is a period of time that saw Pittsburgh win four Super Bowl championships during the 1970s.

Through a sequence of reduction votes over several weeks, the Blue-Ribbon Committee will select one finalist from the list of 25 candidates for the Class of 2025.
