ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A strong armed robbery in Rochester led to a chase involving several law enforcement agencies Sunday evening.

News 8 arrived at the area of Alliance Avenue near Monroe Avenue just before 9 p.m. and saw about a dozen RPD patrol cars and officers from both RPD and State Police canvassing the area, and talking to apparent witnesses. A K9 unit was also on scene.

According to officers, after the robbery, officers gave chase for several miles, nearly hitting Wayne County, before the suspects made a U-turn and headed back toward the city. Officers would not say where the robbery happened.

Once back in Rochester, police said the suspects caused a minor crash around Monroe Avenue and Culver Road after sideswiping a car around Alliance Avenue.

One person has been arrested. The area around Monroe Avenue and Alliance Avenue is expected to be shut down for a little while longer – about a half-hour to an hour.

News 8 has reached out to both RPD and NYS Police for more information but we have yet to hear back. Officers on scene said more details are expected to be released soon.

This is a developing story, check back later for more details.
