Strong fourth quarter leads Dordt women past DSU

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The top-ranked Dordt women overcame a third quarter deficit as they outscored #7 Dakota State 24-16 in the fourth quarter, to claim a 79-76 win at the Sanford Pentagon on Wednesday.

The Defenders were outscored by ten in the third quarter, as the Trojans took the lead.

However, a strong finish was the difference in Dordt's win.

Janie Van Donge led all scorers with 27 points. Macy Sievers added 18, while Desta Hoogendoorn posted 13.

Four players scored in double figures for Dakota State, led by Bria Wasmund who posted a team high 17 points.

Kim Ye-ji, who won a silver medal in the women's 10-meter air pistol event at the Paris Olympics on Sept. 28, is taking a break from professional shooting. Speaking to AFP on Sunday, Kim's agent, Yang Yong-sik, said the Olympian will "temporarily suspend her sports career... to have some time together with her young daughter." Yang clarified that the 32-year-old South Korean shooter is not retiring from the sport, as she just wants to "make up for the time she couldn't spend with her family."
