Students compete for scholarships as Gilmer Yamboree livestock judging begins

GILMER, Texas (KLTV) - It's a big day for East Texas FFA kids on Friday, as stock judging begins at an annual festival.

At the Yamboree in Gilmer, all eyes were focused on the stock judging events, where scholarship money was on the line. Kids from all across East Texas came to the Yamboree grounds with their entries, vying for "grand" or "reserve grand" titles in various categories.

For many of the kids, it was the culmination of a year's work, caring for and grooming their stock.
