PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – It was a whirlwind week for the students and guests from Herning Gymnasium in Denmark who headed to Washington, D.C., after spending time in and around the Orange Schools in October.

The Danish students spent a week getting to know their American host families and Orange High School students, exchanging ideas and information about their respective countries, according to a news release from the Orange City School District.

They toured Ohio and attended a Cleveland Cavaliers preseason game.

The week culminated with a buffet dinner in the Orange High School commons, where the students shared some of theirfavorite highlightsbefore heading off to the Lions' final home football game of the season.

Herning Gymnasium is a school in Denmark with a track record of partnering with schools abroad. It offers upper secondary education for boys and girls ages 16-19.

OHS students, under the direction of teachers Melissa Martin and Pam Townsend, will head back to Denmark in April as part of this International Exchange Program, now in its 11th year.

OHS Denmark Exchange Program advisers are William Brochak and Joanna McNally.

OHS Senior Night

Orange High School Marching Lion Band seniors got a jump-start on Halloween when they dressed the part at the Lions' final home football game of the season Friday (Oct. 11).

OHS tradition includes dressing in costume for Senior Night festivities. Students performed their third show of the season with songs selected by the senior class, including "Party in the U.S.A.," "I'm Still Standing" and "Bye, Bye, Bye," along with the OHS Fight Song, featuring the seniors.

The marching band and Lionettes will perform at halftime of the remaining games and will highlight all of their shows at the annual Marching Band Indoor Concert at 6 p.m. Oct. 29 at Orange High School.

Volley for the Cure a success

Members of the Orange High School volleyball team expressed their appreciation to everyone who participated in the team's Volley for the Cure breast cancer awareness fundraiser Sept. 24.

The night was a huge success with a packed crowd that helped raise nearly $3,000, according to a news release.

All proceeds will go to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the Pablove Foundation, the American Cancer Society and the Orange High School volleyball program. The team thanks its top sponsors, Kriwinsky Family Dental Care and Pinecrest.

Other supporters included the OHS volleyball families, friends and alumni, the Orange athletic department, the Orange Boosters, Davis Bakery, Café Honeycomb, White Flower Cake Shoppe, Patterson's Fruit Farm, Saucy Brew Works and Coca-Cola Consolidated.
