Subway Sandwich Ads Mislead Customers, Brooklyn Lawsuit Claims
New Yorker Anna Tollison, who filed the consumer protection lawsuit on Monday, said she spent $7.61 on a Steak & Cheese sandwich from a Queens Subway before realizing that Subway's ads misled her.
"Subway uses photographs in its advertisements that make it appear that the Steak & Cheese sandwich contains at least 200% more meat than the actual sandwiches that customers receive," Tollison's claim reads.
Furthermore, the lawsuit claims that these advertisements are not just disappointing, but "financially damaging" to customers.
"[Subway's] actions are especially concerning now that inflation, food, and meat pricesare very high and many consumers, especially lower income consumers, are struggling financially," the lawsuit continues.
Tollison's lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for all New Yorkers who have bought the sandwich anytime since 2021.
Subway has not yet responded to a request for comment.
