PALMER, Neb. (KSNB) - Palmer Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Joel Bohlken shaved his head on Saturday at the town's annual Fall Festival.

It's apart of showing his support for a new community pool in Palmer.

The event was called Buzz Bohlken Bald. Tickets were sold to students for $8 and to community members for $20.

"So we had a pool and it was kind of a dilapidated project and we had looked at renovating the pool and we just decided that as a community as a whole that a new pool would benefit us the most," said Kate Wegner, Palmer Pool Board Committee member. "We've got a really young population, in our K through sixth grade we have over 200 students. Lots of young families moving back, kind of a booming young population."

Wegner said their goal is to raise $4 million, and they are $500,000 away from their goal. The old pool is on the grounds of Palmer Public Schools, and they're looking to expand the school.

Palmer Public Schools will also have a $12,995,000 bond on the Nov. 5 ballot for renovations and additions to the school.

The community is invited to attend an open house at the school Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to tour the school and learn about the proposed facility project.
