Susan Joy Stein

Sue Stein was born on November 8, 1958 in Chicago Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Judy Stein, being the oldest of three children. Sue passed away September 20, 2024 and in doing so left a big emptiness in our hearts. She was a wonderful person, as friends and family we all cared deeply for her, knowing that she also cared deeply for us.

Susie was raised as a young child in Chicago, moving to France in the early 1960's where her dad Art, who passed in 2015, served in the military as a physician. Here they lived for 2 years, and Susie gained her love for the French language. After moving back to Chicago for a few years, in 1970 the family moved to San Jose which is where Sue's life of long and dear friendships took growth. She made countless close friends, many who stayed very tight throughout life.

Sue was a true academic, a proud graduate of Reed College, getting her degree in psychology with an extensive course load in math. She then got her Masters in Education from Stanford University, leading to a long career as an educator, her fondest years teaching math and statistics at Andrew Hill High School (which she adored). Sue also had great interest in clinical psychology, later earning a Masters in this field.

Sue had many interests, she loved having good conversation with friends and family most of all. She enjoyed a good movie, even a not so good movie. She enjoyed a good book, plays, creating art, and needlepoint. She enjoyed being with people.

Sue Stein lived a very worthwhile life, she had a wonderful impact on those around her, and was truly loved by her family and friends. We all wish we could have had many more years with her. We all miss her very very much.

Sue Stein is survived by her loving mom Judy, brothers Jeff (Beth) and Ben (Merla), and her adoring nieces Michelle and Stephanie.
