Suspect allegedly on meth accused of breaking into county building, stripping naked
SAN ANTONIO - A man allegedly high on meth is accused of trespassing into a county building, stripping down, then tattling on himself to authorities.
It was about 6 a.m. on Sunday morning when this man, Carlos Lee Vasquez, managed to get inside this building and proceeded to get naked.
That's when he called 9-1-1, saying he needed help.
"Then the nature of the call was a little bit disturbing," said Johnny Garcia with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. "The individual called from the Juvenile Probation Office, indicating that he had just been shot and needed help, ..."
He then allegedly rubbed his genitalia all over surfaces before calling 9-1-1 again and saying he was okay.
Due to how close they were, SAPD and Bexar County deputies arrived at the building
"They were able to locate this individual that was found on the second floor, completely naked, and placed them into custody," said Garcia. "Obviously, when somebody gets into a facility on a weekend, close that night, automatically, our first thoughts are, how did he get here in the first place?"
According to the SAPD report as well as Bexar County, Vasquez entered through a backdoor, that an officer said, "was easy to open with a strong pull of the door handle."
Sources with the county tell us this is the same door many employees have complained about since homeless people have been found in the building after hours.
"Speaking with some of the staff that work at that facility, it appears that that door malfunctions from time to time and has issues actually locking," said Garcia. "Nevertheless, what we also found inside of the building was damage that occurred to the ceiling, which we estimate, believe to be anywhere from five to $10,000 in damage."
Vasquez was able to also enter areas of the building that keep important security measures for the Juvenile Detention Center and Probation.
Reporters have filed an open records request with the county for all complaints about the door not closing properly.
We also requested the name of the private company that provides security for this county building
"It's a county building," said Garcia. "Some of our county buildings are old, so those are some of the things that we're going to be working with our facilities department to ensure and safeguard this facility so it doesn't happen again"
Vasquez was transported to an area hospital before being cleared to go to jail and be magistrated, since he was allegedly high on meth when he was found.
