Suspect arrested for making threat against Colorado high school
DENVER ( KDVR ) — A suspect has been arrested for allegedly making a threat against Summit High School in Breckenridge.
On Wednesday at 9:15 a.m., the Summit County Sheriff's Office said deputies received a report about a threat against Summit High School. The suspect allegedly called school staff and said he intended to come to the school with guns and a bomb.

Deputies said they immediately responded and secured the school before initiating an investigation.
Manuel Humberto Carreon Mendez, a former Summit High School student and current Denver resident, was identified as the suspect.
Investigators said Carreon Mendez was not in Summit County and was not an immediate threat to the school.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant and Carreon Mendez was arrested in Adams County without incident. The sheriff's office said he was unarmed at the time of his arrest.
"I want to acknowledge how scary these critical incidents can be to parents, teachers, students, and everybody involved. I thank the school district and our local, state, and federal partners for helping us bring this to a peaceful resolution," said Summit County Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons in a press release.

Carreon Mendez was arrested on charges of:
Two counts of false report of explosives, weapons or harmful substances
Inciting destruction of life or property
Interference with staff, faculty, or students of educational institutions – misdemeanor
Harassment – misdemeanor
The Summit County Sheriff's Office said there is no elevated risk to the public.
