Suspect detained following Garfield Ave. homicide Saturday evening

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Police Department reports a homicide has taken place in the 2700 block of Garfield Avenue today, November 9.

KCPD says that at 6 p.m., officers were called to a residence in the area on reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found multiple individuals at the scene and located an adult man inside the residence with gunshot wounds.

Officers then reportedly called for EMS, who declared the victim dead at the scene.

One of the multiple individuals at the scene was detained as a subject of interest according to KCPD. Detectives say they are not currently looking for any additional suspects.

According to KCPD, the investigation shows that the victim was inside the residence when an altercation with the suspect escalated to gunfire.
