Suspect found guilty of shooting man to death, injuring baby

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man has been found guilty in a 2021 Oak Court Mall shooting that left a man dead and his nine-month-old baby injured.

Quante Webb was found guilty of first-degree murder after a five-day trial, according to the Shelby County District Attorney's Office.

The shooting victim was identified as Jayson Hill .

During the trial, 13 witnesses testified, including Webb's girlfriend.

On November 20, 2021, reports state that Webb thought Hill was responsible for shooting his brother, although that had not been determined by law enforcement.

Webb arranged for someone to follow Hill through the mall to tell him when Hill was leaving. When Hill walked out of the mall, he was ambushed by Webb.

Webb shot Hill in the back of the head and arm. One of the bullets hit the baby.
