Suspects crash car through Norwood pawn shop, steal multiple guns

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Another local gun store was robbed after suspects drove a car through the storefront, this time in Norwood.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the National Shooting Sports Foundation are jointly offering a potential total reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects.

It all happened around 4 a.m. on Nov. 16 when the Vice President of Ted's Pawn Shop, Gabe Tincher, says he received a call from his alarm company.

"When the alarm company tells you they can hear glass being broken, sounds of smashing, and voices, then you quickly understand that this is a little more serious," said Tincher.

Security cameras at Ted's Pawn Shop on Delaware Avenue in Norwood captured the moments suspects crashed a car through the storefront.

Suspects can be seen running in behind the car, breaking into display cases, and stealing guns in the video.

"They got a few handguns and one long gun," Tincher says. "Which I'm not happy about."

Tincher says he has heard about similar incidents around Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati, including nearly 100 guns being stolen from stores in late August by 13-year-old to 16-year-old teens.

"ATF has told us as well that this is probably the biggest national trend going on in crime right now," Tincher explains. "Hitting pawn shops and gun stores for the guns."

Tincher says he's taken precautions like locking up 95% of their guns at night as well as adding steel gates that close behind the windows on the inside and concrete barriers on the outside in front of the windows.

"The stolen vehicle that they had was just the right size to fit through the space that was allowed on each side of the concrete barriers," Tincher continues.

Tincher notes that he believes it is primarily teenagers committing these crimes, and says he believes not enough is done when they are caught.

"It's time for law-abiding citizens to demand that there's some real repercussions for your actions," Tincher urges.
