Swansea City 1-0 Watford: Loan star Myles Peart-Harris strikes for hosts as Tom Cleverley's Hornets suffer setback

Myles Peart-Harris made it back-to-back victories for Swansea City to leave Watford 's recent surge on the hard shoulder.

The Hornets had won two in succession themselves including an impressive 6-2 victory at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. But Peart-Harris, the midfielder on loan at Swansea from Brentford , scored from close range in the 35th minute and Watford never looked likely to respond.

Swansea had won for the first time in seven games at the weekend, beating Oxford, and took that momentum into the opening half-hour here.

Scoring goals, however, has been an issue for the Swans and although they created three clear early chances, they were unable to seize any of them.

Peart-Harris struck the foot of a post, then curled a ball into the path of Zan Vipotnik, who failed to apply the crucial touch. Ben Cabango did have the ball in the net, but Harry Darling had strayed offside before his headed assist.

It looked like it might be another frustrating night for the home fans, but Watford's vulnerability from crosses was exposed 10 minutes before the break. Goncalo Franco's centre from the right found Ronald unmarked and his header was swept home by Peart-Harris.

Watford boss Tom Cleverley made changes at half-time but his team should have fallen further behind when the ball dropped perfectly for Franco, who sliced his shot over the bar from 10 yards.
