SWAT, Las Vegas police respond to barricade in west valley; suspect in custody

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — SWAT and Las Vegas police responded to a barricade in the west Las Vegas valley Monday evening, police said.

Around 3:30 p.m., Metro police received reports of a woman firing a handgun outside her home in the area of Flamingo Road and El Capitan Way.

When officers arrived, the woman refused to exit the home, resulting in SWAT being deployed, police said.

As of 6:10 p.m. Monday, El Capitan Way was closed from Debonair Lane to Saddle Avenue.

Police arrested the suspected later Monday night, according to police.

The eldest son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been arrested again, this time on suspicion of rape, police said Tuesday. Marius Borg Høiby is the stepson of the heir to the Norwegian throne, Crown Prince Haakon, and the son of Mette-Marit from a previous relationship. A group of teens is accused of committing an anti-Asian hate crime in Brooklyn, New York City, after allegedly hurling whipped cream at an Asian couple while making mocking gestures at them last month. The couple, both aged 29, were walking in the area when the group of four teens allegedly approached them, pulled back the corners of their eyes — mimicking the couple's physical features — and yelled "ni hao" (Chinese for "hello"). One of the teens allegedly sprayed whipped cream from a can into another girl's hand, who then flung it at the victims.

The governor of Ohio and city officials in Columbus are speaking out after a group of armed, masked individuals marched through the streets of the Ohio capital city Saturday dressed in black and holding flags with swastikas on them. The unidentified people were spotted around 1 p.m. walking through the Short North neighborhood, according to Columbus ABC affiliate WSYX. Individuals in the group were detained, but no arrests were ultimately made, according to the Columbus Police Department.
