Sweet Victory: Kraft Heinz in Lowville reclaims largest cheesecake record

LOWVILLE, N.Y. (WWTI) – A Guinness World Record has returned home to the United States.

Kraft Heinz in Lowville has officially reclaimed the record for the world's largest cheesecake with a 15,008-pound dessert. This occurred at the annual Cream Cheese Festival that's in the village of Lowville.

Lowville held the record previously in 2013 with a nearly 7,000-pound entry. However, a plant in Russia took the mark in 2017 with a cheesecake of 9,347 pounds.

Plans were in motion for moths to shatter the record and bring it back stateside. A Guinness Book of Records official was there to adjudicate the record at the unveiling on Saturday afternoon.

Lieutenant Colonel Adam. Keller, Commander, 6-6 Air Cavalry Squadron, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division cut the Philadelphia Cheesecake and handed out to slices to attendees of the festival.

Any remaining slices of cheesecake will go to the Lowville Food Pantry and Watertown Urban Mission.
