STAMFORD, CT — Stamford has added another cannabis dispensary in the form of Sweetspot Farms, which is now officially open at 111 High Ridge Road in the Bulls Head section of the city.

The dispensary offers medical and recreational cannabis, and it was founded by two Stamford natives — CEO Jason Webski, and Chief Business Development Officer Ben Herbst.

Sweetspot soft opened in September, but they will hold a grand opening celebration on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, Webski told Patch via email.

In an announcement, Herbst said, "Bringing our cannabis business back to the town we grew up in means everything."

"This is more than just opening a store—it's about giving back to the community that shaped us," Herbst added.

But the road to opening was long and arduous.

The Stamford Zoning Board in 2023 denied Sweetspot's application, and the company subsequently sued the city.

The board later settled with Sweetspot to allow the dispensary to open.

"We have opened cannabis businesses across six states, Stamford was by far our most difficult approval process. It's frustrating that my hometown makes it so difficult for new businesses to open," Webski told Patch. "At the end of the day, we now have the chance to serve a community we genuinely care about, and help neighbors with a wide variety of medical conditions. I am grateful for the opportunity, and all of the pain getting through the approval process is well worth it."

Sweetspot offers cannabis flower, edibles, pre-rolls, extracts and more, according to their website .

"Our mission is to cultivate a worry-free world by helping people stress less and enjoy more," Webski said.

The dispensary features crafted displays of products, and an innovative digital "bud bar," providing an interactive way for customers to explore products.

"Connecticut's product selection is very limited compared to its neighboring states, but we try to stock as much variety as possible. Our cultivation facility is opening soon and we are partnering with a wide range of seasoned cultivators to bring variety to the market to drive down pricing for the CT consumer," Webski said.

"We know our customers face challenges with pricing compared to other states like Massachusetts, so we offer constantly changing daily deals to help provide savings," Webski continued. "Sweetspot offers a welcoming and 'no-rush' shopping experience where consumer education is the main focus. We have an array of digital screens that make up our digital bud bar, featuring our available strains with testing information displayed prominently."

Licensed pharmacists are on staff and available to answer questions and provide further education to all customers.

"Many dispensaries are automating away jobs and moving towards a 100 percent kiosk model," Webski said. "We went the opposite direction. Ordering is done through our expertly trained staff who can provide guidance and education."

This is Sweetspot's second location in Connecticut, with a retail operation in West Hartford.

There are other Sweetspot locations in Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

Other cannabis dispensaries currently open in Stamford include Fine Fettle at 12 Research Drive and Curaleaf at 814 E.Main St.
