Taiwan is urging children, elderly and the vulnerable not to travel to China amid an outbreak of a mystery pnuemonia in the country. In a statement released after a cabinet meeting today, Taiwan's health ministry said those more prone to infection were 'requested not to travel to China unless necessary'. The World Health Organization (WHO) yesterday demanded China release more data on the spike in cases, with cases mostly affecting children. Chinese officials have insisted that the surge is being caused by an 'exit wave' of the flu , respiratory syncytial virus ( RSV ) and others — after the country had one of the longest and harshest lockdowns of the pandemic. China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday that the rise in respiratory illnesses in China was a common issue faced by all countries and that Chinese authorities have it under effective control.
