TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida man is facing charges for stealing two Spanish gold coins worth more than $50,000 from a Florida Keys resident, NBC affiliate WTVJ reports .

Keiontae Raneake Osean Smith, 35, was charged with grand theft and dealing in stolen property, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office told WTVJ on Friday.

Smith, of Tampa, reportedly stole the coins after agreeing to buy them for $53,750 from a resident of Bay Point.

The two agreed to the sale in August and met to make the exchange. Smith showed the victim a photo of what appeared to be a bank transfer for the funds, but no money was exchanged according to authorities.

Smith reportedly used a fake name during the sale and provided fake bank tracking and credit card numbers.

Smith was arrested on a warrant and booked into jail, WTVJ reports.
