Teen dies following South Kansas City homicide Wednesday evening

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police detectives are investigating after a teenage boy was killed in a shooting Wednesday night.

KCPD officers responded to the shooting just before 6:30 p.m. in the area of E. 85th Terrace and Oldham Road at the Stonewood Apartments.

Gun found in student's backpack at Park Hill South in KC area

At the scene, officers located a 16-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to a hospital before he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

KCPD claims that preliminary investigation shows that there was a disturbance in the area involving an undetermined number of people that led to the shooting. KCPD does not have a suspect in custody at this time.
