Teen in critical condition after shooting on Brooklyn basketball court

A teenager was shot in the neck and critically wounded on a basketball court near a Brooklyn junior high school — the second gun blast in the area in three weeks, police said.

Cops responding to a 911 call around 5:41 p.m. found the 18-year-old victim at the intersection of East 81st St. and Flatlands Ave. near I.S. 68 Isaac Bildersee in Canarsie.

"It was one shot, he was lying there in the school compound in the (Bildersee Playground) park," said a 53-year-old nurse aide from the area.

"He was bleeding, he was bleeding from the head... it was horrible," the nurse aide told the Daily News.

The victim was taken to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where he was reported in critical condition. There were no immediate arrests in the case.

Police sources told the Daily News that cops are investigating if there was a connection involving another shooting nearby, suspecting a larger gang war in the area.

The bloodshed came in the wake of a Sept 25 shooting, in which two 17-year-old boys were wounded near the junior high. One of the teens had multiple gunshot wounds to the leg and torso, while the other youth was hit twice in the leg.
