Teenager on bike struck by car on Highway 56 south of Brownsdale

Sep. 19—WINDOM TOWNSHIP, Minn. — A teenager on a bike was injured after being struck by a car on Highway 56 in Mower County on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024.

A 2001 Volkswagen Beetle was south on Highway 56 at Interstate 90 when it collided with a bicyclist around 4:49 p.m., according to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report.

The bicyclist, a 14-year-old male from Austin, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Beetle, Lina Dora Lopez, 39, of LeRoy, was not injured.

The Mower County Sheriff's Office, Rose Creek Fire Department and Mayo Clinic Ambulance also responded to the scene.
