Approximately 31 positions are to come on stream across the county over the coming weeks at its Superstores and Extra stores.

The new jobs form part of almost 1,200 additional festive roles the retailer is planning to role out nationwide.

Senior bosses have said they want to hear from candidates looking for extra hours to suit their schedule or who may be seeking new opportunities.

Those who do secure work will have an opportunity to apply for any permanent roles that have become available - either in existing stores or in new Tesco locations planned for the coming year.

Maurice Kelly, people director at Tesco Ireland, said the move was indicative of the firm's broader plans to press ahead with its continued expansion going forward.

"The festive season is a wonderful time to join our team, and we're delighted to provide our new colleagues with an industry-leading benefits package from day one," he said.

We also encourage those who join us during this period to explore permanent roles in our stores as we continue to grow in Ireland."

As part of its incentivising plan, all employees will be able to avail of Tesco's reward and benefits package, which includes free access to a virtual GP, life assurance, and a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) offering 24/7 emotional and wellbeing support to staff and their families.

Candidates interested in applying for a festive role at Tesco Ireland are asked to apply through their website.
