Texas vs. UTSA live updates, score: Arch Manning’s first career start arrived for top-ranked Longhorns

D.Davis23 min ago
AUSTIN - There are two significant happenings Saturday night during what would otherwise be a snooze of a non-conference game for the University of Texas.

The Longhorns will play their first game as the No. 1 team in the country since 2008 , and the game will mark the first career start for highly-touted redshirt freshman Arch Manning.

Manning's first start comes as redshirt junior Quinn Ewers continues to nurse a strained oblique , suffered early in the second quarter of last week's 56-7 win over UTSA.

With Ewers out and Manning starting, true freshman Trey Owens will be Manning's backup, while fourth-year junior walk-on Cole Lourd has been upgraded to QB3.

LoneStarLive.com Longhorns beat writer Josh Newman will be in the press box at DKR providing updates and analysis throughout the evening, so circle back to this post for coverage.
