6th Graders To Middle School Plan Considered In Bensalem
—The Bensalem Township School District is hosting a community meeting on Oct. 1 to discuss changes that will impact middle school students.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bensalem High School Auditorium.
The school district and an architect will host presentations on the following:
There will be a public question and answer session. The meeting is open to Bensalem residents and school district staff.
According to someone with knowledge about the changes, the plan is to bring sixth-graders back to the middle school. Those students were placed in elementary school after Armstrong Middle School closed in the early 2000s.
The school source said that the district's two middle schools aren't large enough to hold another grade.
Back-To-School Nights Planned
Parents and teachers are encouraged to participate in "Back to School Nights" scheduled by each school in the Bensalem Township School District.
The special evenings are designed for parents to get first-hand knowledge of their children's daily schedules. Staff members and administrators discuss the academic program with parents explain teacher expectations along with student responsibilities, and present an update on school policies and procedures.
Parent and teacher participation in these evenings facilitates communication and strengthens student support systems.
