The Newest College Basketball Fraud Power Rankings Have Been Released
We recorded the newest episode of the Mark Titus Show earlier this morning in Chicago, and with there not having been much action since the Champions Classic the other night where Kentucky took down Cooper Flagg and Duke, Mark decided to unveil his newest Fraud Rankings within the sport. I won't go too into detail, in hopes that you click on the link and watch the show , but here's the honorable mentions and Top 5 with a short snippet as to why they're a fraud.
Honorable Mentions:
- Joel Embiid: 1 game played on the year for the 2-9 76ers....in which he went 2-11 from the field and sat out the next night
- Tony Bennett: Ummm why could Ryan Dunn not shoot at Virginia and now he's shooting the lights out in the NBA? People forget the NBA 3 point line is farther, too...
- Kyle Neptune - The problem here is that to be a fraud, we needed to think you were good....and then you turn out not to be. At this point, no one thinks Kyle Neptune is good, and the only question is, will he be fired mid-season or at the end of the year?
- Charlie Baker - The current President of the NCAA says there is room to expand the tournament field to 72 or 76 teams. Do we really need more play-in games? Either go to 128 or stop with the small expansion talks (or go back to 64).
- Todd Golden - Why doesn't he play the tallest basketball player in NCAA history? The man is 7'9! (There might be another reason Todd Golden is a fraud too, but we will let due process play out first!)
Fraud Power Rankings (Top 5):
#5: Michigan State - Why are they in the Champions Classic still? Can we perhaps get the 2x defending champs instead?
#4: Pat Kelsey - Tough look to ride around begging people to come to your game vs. Tennessee and then lose by 22 at home
#3: Jon Scheyer - It's too early to say he's a bad coach (he's actually probably a really good coach), but the end of game situation vs. Kentucky left a lot of question marks. The dude is going to continue to get talent, but you have to be better than that at the end of the game.
#2: Free Lutheran Bible College - Through 2 games, they have lost 85-5 and 87-11 (to a JV team)
#1: Board of Regents in the state of Kansas - Congrats to Bill Self on becoming the winningest coach in Kansas history....but that led to the story being told of the Board of Regents forcing a willing and able Phog Allen to retire because he turned 70? When he had a freshman named Wilt Chamberlain waiting in the wings?
Other topics discussed on the newest episode of the Mark Titus Show:
- The Cavs are off to a 13-0 start, but should the Celtics even care?
- Donovan Mitchell had the most selfish / funny basketball play since Ricky Davis shot it off his own backboard to get a Triple Double
- Arkansas trailed Troy by 1 at the half and now we're starting to wonder if they're simply not very good
- We update the Tar and Feather List of teams that cannot win the National Title, or else we'll go to their campus and get tarred (is that a word?) and feathered by the student body
- Titus is not looking forward to having to go all the way out to Maui to watch some of the very best teams in the sport
