The timeline of Dale Williams' 25-Year Cold Case

MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO) - Dale Williams was last seen in Nucla, Colorado on May 27, 1999. The next day, Dale was reported missing.

On July 4th, 1999, Dale's truck was found near where the Dolores and Umcompaghre rivers meet. The case went cold in 2012. It was turned to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and put on the back burner until September of last year. Authorities with the Montrose County Sheriff's Office say they are grateful to have made a breakthrough in the case.

"It means the world to us. And to his daughters and his widow. It's us getting a little bit of closure—a step closer to that closure—if we can," said Sergeant Chuck Searcy, the administrative sergeant with the Montrose County Sheriff's Department.

According to authorities, having a new pair of eyes on the case was a big help in moving the case forward.
