The unique inspiration behind Joel Creasy's unusual engagement ring as he announces impending marriage to model Jack Stratton-Smith

Nova presenter Joel Creasey wowed listeners earlier this week when he revealed that he was set to tie the knot with his long-term boyfriend Jack Stratton-Smith .

And now the 34-year-old comedian has revealed the unique inspiration behind his dazzling engagement ring which features a stunning green sapphire.

During Monday's episode of Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel the funnyman said his ring was designed to pay tribute to his love of the musical Wicked and The Wizard of Oz.

'It's a beautiful ring and apparently [Jack] has had it for a year and a half,' Joel gushed the broadcast.

He said that his fiancé had arranged to include his parents' gold ring in the design.

Joel continued: 'And its got an emerald because I love all things Wizard of Oz and Wicked and [there's] some diamonds around it.'

He later took to Instagram to share a photo of himself wearing the beautiful creation.

'Joel's ring was created with an Australian Parti sapphire and diamonds with heirloom gold,' said the caption.

'...Can't get enough of this stunning ring,' he said sharing another picture of the gorgeous bauble.

Elsewhere during Monday's show Joel said that it might be quite some time before he walks down the aisle.

'It won't happened for years because a certain someone's schedule has to work around it,' he joked.

It comes after Joel announced his happy news on his Instagram on Monday.

The couple cuddled up in a series of sweet images taken alongside a stunning water view in Monopoli, Southern Italy .

The pair shared a kiss after Jack got down on one knee and presented a shocked Joel a ring, which was a chunky gold bauble with a dark stone.

'I'm engaged to my best friend and love of my life' the comedian wrote in his caption alongside the photos.

The loved-up couple were quickly congratulated by their celebrity friends.

'Ok, breathe (me). We've been training for this moment our whole lives. We need to get onto the Palace of Versailles stat for their avails. Congrats' wrote Em Rusciano.

'This is just the best news. All my love to you beauties' added Myf Warhurst with Jackie 'O' Henderson adding, 'Omg - this is so amazing! Congrats beautiful'.

Tim Blackwell chimed in with a gag: 'He went through with it while you were in that shirt? He must really love you'.

The radio host has been dating the actor and underwear model, 31, for seven years.

Joel previously admitted that the way wooed his handsome beau is hardly conventional.

'I stalked him for four years on Instagram. Wore him down,' the Perth-raised funnyman boasted.

Host Sonia Kruger asked if he had contacted him through his direct messages, but Joel revealed his approach was 'creepier'.

'I saw he had tickets to the Adele concert and I was like 'I guess like Adele too',' he quipped.

Co-host Richard Wilkins asked the Mardi Gras host how he managed to spot the model in a stadium of 100,000 people.

'My stalking knows no bounds, I lasered in on him,' he laughed.

Joel also revealed an awkward conversation he had with Jack early on in their relationship in an interview with The Project.

He explained: 'We have been dating for a year then maybe a month ago, he said 'oh my god you commented on one of my photos four years ago.''

Embarrassed, the comedian said: 'Oh what did I write?'

He recalled Jack saying: 'You just wrote three of those eggplants emojis followed by a three water spurt emojis.'

Joel and Jack began dating in 2017.
