The warmest Election Day in decades Tuesday

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – A massive surge in warmer air is headed toward Western New York on Election Day. This will likely be the warmest Election Day in decades as the morning starts around 60° and afternoon high temperatures get to the upper 70s.

Election Day is the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November. That means it can only fall between November 2 and November 8. While each elected position varies in when it comes up for an election, we can assume there is an election on every single one of these Tuesdays going back to when weather records began in the late 1800s.

If we want to put 77° into context and save some time, we can look strictly at maximum temperatures for the stretch of November 2-8 since records began. This would cover all Election Days, but would include other days that did not have an election. Regardless, here is the list.

11/2 – Record 80 in 1933, 2nd – 79 in 1971

11/3 – Record 75 in 1977

11/4 – Record 78 in 2015

11/5 – Record 77 in 2022

11/6 – Record 72 in 2022

11/7 – Record 77 in 1938

11/8 – Record 74 in 1916

Knowing these numbers, There is a chance that 2024 could be the top three warmest November Election Days on Record.
