The City of Bayfield has been named one of the best small towns in the U.S. by Travel Curator . Bayfield, which has been dubbed Wisconsin's smallest city , was included in the travel and hospitality website's May 30 about the "35 best and coolest" small towns to visit across the country. Here's what Travel Curator said about Bayfield: "Wisconsin's smallest city but big on Lake Superior views. Experience the scenic beauty of the Apostle Islands and enjoy water-based activities, orchards, and a charming small-town atmosphere in Bayfield, Wisconsin, on the shore of Lake Superior." Located in Bayfield County, the city of Bayfield sits on the northern tip of Wisconsin, bordering Lake Superior. It's also near the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore — giving the city the nickname " Gateway to the Apostle Islands ." How many people live in Bayfield? Bayfield has a population of 584, according to 2020 data from the U.S. Census Bureau . The population is listed at 608 people as of 2024, according to World Population Review . What is Bayfield known for? Aside from its tiny population and proximity to the Apostle Islands, Bayfield has also been called the Berry Capital of Wisconsin . There's over a dozen berry farms and apple orchards to visit, which is sometimes dubbed the "Fruit Loop." "We were meant to fly out this morning and we got information last night saying there is no more flight on JetStar for us to fly out. // I've got to go home for three kids, so hopefully we can catch a flight to get out of here today."Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki first erupted on November 3.It happened in the East Nusa Tenggara province, around 500 miles from Bali.At least nine people died as a result.It has since erupted repeatedly, including multiple times on Tuesday (November 12).The ash column from Mount Lewotobi has reached as high as 6.2 miles.Indonesia has close to 130 active volcanoes and sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire" which is an area of high seismic activity atop various tectonic plates.
