Thousands turn out for grand opening of new fountain drink shop in Woodway

WOODWAY, Texas (KWTX) - Thousands of people turned out for the grand opening of a new drink shop in Central Texas owned by one half of the popular YouTubers Brooklyn & Bailey, both who were on hand to work and take pictures with customers over the weekend.

Sip City in Woodway officially opened its doors Friday at 10 a.m. and the lines on opening day were almost three hours long for fans going inside the store. Those using the drive-thru faced a line that wrapped around the parking lot and then backed up on the access road of Highway 84.

The wait didn't seem to matter much to Midway 8th grader Hazel Krey.

"Going to the grand opening of Sip City was amazing," Hazel said. "I loved being there with my friends, trying the delicious drinks, and seeing Brooklyn and Bailey."

Sip City is owned by Brooklyn McKnight and her husband Dakota Blackburn. Brooklyn rose to online fame alongside her twin sister Bailey.

Brooklyn and Bailey, along with their husbands, were visible Friday and Saturday greeting guests, taking orders, and working the drive-thru window.

The twins' parents, Shaun and Mindy, who are often seen in their online videos, were also on hand.

Mindy has her own large social media following and is the owner of Hairitage By Mindy McKnight, which are hair products sold everywhere from Walmart to CVS and Amazon.

"Let me tell you, my expectations were blown completely out of the water," Brooklyn told KWTX. "I mean so many community members came and showed up. We had thousands and thousands of people and hundreds and hundreds of orders which was amazing."

The store, which serves combinations of everything from sodas to teas and lemonades with add-ins like peach, vanilla and cherry, sold more than 10,000 drinks in the opening weekend.

"It sounded like everybody loved the drinks and the service was great, so that's what I love to hear and hopefully we can just continue to have an awesome, awesome opening and everybody loves Sip City," Brooklyn said.

Sip City Woodway is located at 911 Jordan Lane in Woodway next to Premiere ER.

This is the second Sip City location. The first location in Plano opened in August.

A third and fourth location are in the works, but the towns have not yet been announced.
