Three inmates charged in stabbing officers at Massachusetts prison

LANCASTER, Mass. (WWLP) – Three inmates at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Lancaster are facing charges in connection to the violent attack on correction officers earlier this month.

Pittsfield police capture murder suspect from Maine

Jose Crespo, 39, Heriberto Rivera-Negron, 36, and Jeffrey Tapia, 30, are facing several charges. The State Department of Correction said that two correction officers were stabbed as they were performing routine rounds. One of the officers was stabbed in the back of the head, and the other was stabbed 12 times in the back.

Three others were injured while responding to help. All five were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment of various injuries. The three inmates are expected to be arraigned next month.
