Three men charged after Rankin County deputies seize ghost gun, marijuana

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Rankin County deputies said a search warrant led to the recovery of a "ghost gun" and marijuana in the Castlewoods subdivision.

Authorities said the search warrant was executed on Friday, October 18 after an extensive investigation into drug shipments and transactions to and from a home in the subdivision.

According to investigators, the deputies recovered nine pounds of marijuana, one handgun (commonly referred to as a "ghost gun" due to its untraceable characteristics), $2,500 in U.S. currency and items to package and prepare marijuana for sale/shipment.

Deputies arrested three men for trafficking a controlled substance. Traveon Jonte Evans, 19, of Flora; Marc Alexander Arizmendi, 21, of Brandon; and Jonarius Jamal Thomas, 24, of Brandon; were booked into the Rankin County Detention Center.

Authorities said the firearm recovered in the search warrant will be provided to the Mississippi Crime Lab in Pearl for analysis. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible.
